Dairy Code of Conduct Overview
The Dairy Industry Code of Conduct (the Code) aims to increase the clarity and transparency of trading arrangements between dairy farmers and those buying their milk – DFMC (as the first purchaser)
All standard form agreements (supplier contracts) must:
- include a minimum price
- be accompanied by a statement of circumstances
- include a non-exclusive standard form option
Processor’s must report on disputes. A report for DFMC for the period May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021 is here

Announced Minimum Milk Prices 2021/22
DFMC is pleased to announce minimum milk prices for the Far North Queensland region. The details of our exclusive contracts are presented and summarised in the download Updated 2021/22 Milk Pricing Offers – FNQ
Changes for Far North Queensland 2021/22
DFMC is pleased to announce the introduction of a New Milk Incentive for the 6 months from January 2022 to July 2022. If you can increase either, or both, of the kg of butterfat or kg of protein contained in the milk which we accept from you in any of the six months compared to the kg of butterfat or kg of protein contained in the milk you supplied in the same month in the previous Financial Year (New Milk Baseline), you will be eligible for a new milk incentive.
2021/22 Price Announcement – Exclusive agreement
The minimum price per month on a kilogram of milk solids (kgMS) and cents per litre (cpl) basis can be downloaded below. These prices represent the conversion of the Minimum Milk Price for milk solids (butterfat plus protein) to a Cpl price calculated on the assumption that the relevant litre of milk will comprise the Assumed Composition Levels, being 4.00% butterfat and 3.2% protein. Given that the quality (SCC & TPC) of your milk may differ from the Assumed Composition Levels, the Cpl pricing is not necessarily indicative of the price you will receive for your milk or the minimum milk price under this Contract.
Statement of Circumstances
DFMC will enter into this agreement if the farmer is a member of the co-operative (or agrees to become a member immediately after entering into this agreement) and:
- the farm is within the regions defined by the following:
- a 50km radius of the BDD Malanda Factory located at 18 James Street Malanda.
- the farmer wishes to supply DFMC on an exclusive basis;
- the farmer can supply DFMC with an annual volume greater than 240,000 litres;
- the farmer can supply milk of a high quality (TPC <20,000 cfu/mL and SCC <300,000 cells/ml);
- Bega is obligated to acquire the milk the subject of this agreement from DFMC pursuant to the Milk Supply Agreement between DFMC and Bega; and
- the farmer has demonstrated compliance with DFMCs Milk Policy (if the farmer has supplied DFMC before) or is able to demonstrate that the farmer can comply with DFMC’s Milk Policy and this agreement;
provided that DFMC has a demand for milk at the time a farmer offers to enter into this agreement with DFMC, with priority being given to farmers who are existing DFMC members.

Announced Minimum Milk Prices 2021/22
DFMC is pleased to announce increases to minimum milk prices for the South East Queensland regions. The details of the increases to our exclusive contracts are presented and summarised in the downloads below
2021/22 Milk Pricing Offers
South East Queensland – combined sub-regions
Updated 2021/22 MILK PRICING OFFERS – SEQ – Combined sub-regions
Changes for South East Queensland
The pricing structure has been revised to better reflect the predominantly fresh drinking milk needs of our processing partner Bega and now has a significant portion paid in cents per litre, together with a portion paid on kilogram of milk solids basis.
Our announced 2021/22 monthly price at top quality, plus average adjustments, should result in DFMC paying our suppliers in SEQ a weighted average total price of approximately 71.0 cents per litre (cpl) or $9.49 per kilogram milk solids equivalent with a range from 66.0cpl to 76.0cpl. Our total price is approximately 3.80 cpl higher than our announced price for the 2020/21 season.
If you can increase either, or both, of the kg of butterfat or kg of protein contained in the milk which we accept from you in any of the twelve months compared to the kg of butterfat or kg of protein contained in the milk you supplied in the same month in the previous Financial Year (New Milk Baseline), you will be eligible for a new milk incentive
An additional yearly Growth Incentive may be paid when the total yearly production exceeds total production from the average of the two previous years.
